In effect, zoning provides a current population cap. Typically this is well below any physical capability. There is no doubt we can build to house many, many times more people than anything anyone on island could contemplate. Simply build upwards an…

In the recent Open Space gathering looking at how to move the OCP Vision to Action, I convened a conversation around the fact that at the last OCP meeting there were many strong opinions held (both pro and con) around the topic of POPULATION CAPS.…

I heard on the radio this morning that the Lower Mainland will welcome 300,000 new residents by 2021...and I wonder what that has to tell us, about seniors aging in place, and provision of services, ...and much else! Having parents in their mid90's…

From John's post, that the OCP committee "hopes that the IDEAS Forum will provoke conversations about Bowen’s future" it seems to me that we can suggest, without compromising anyone's integrity, that, as Sally has suggested, OUR priority is open par…

Conversations from the Open Space on Nove 29

Hi...I thought I'd share the headlines that generated conversations, around the general theme of "Transition Towns".

* Transition Towns - What and Why
* Transition to What?
* What would a Bowen Transition Town Look like?
* What would a Development Policy Framework look like?

Thanks to those who joined our circle...and I wonder if anyone has had any reverberations from our conversations that they'd like to capture here?

Hello dear Carol! My goodness it'seen so very long. I'm a mainlander now (sniff) ...moved to Dundarave for Lochie since he's in high school now. We're in a great place near the ocean... as Bowen-ish as West Van can get... but still not Bowen! ... my EFT/Spiritual Direction work is building slowly...trying to live the life the Creator asks of me (most of the time! ;-) Hope all's well with you. You're looking gorgeous!!..life must be agreeing with you.

Lots of love,
Sara

Hi Carol,
Nice to meet you!

You'll find tools here to encourage group forming, both online and in person, as well as dialogue that can benefit island life. "Left" "Right" leaning, whatever, no problem.

There are facebook-type walls for each user, as well as blogs and discussions that anyone can start. You can also upload videos.

The site has been built to support self governance; by no means does the scope of this activity have to be confined to the political-issue-of-the-day. To assist dialogue, people can form neighbourhood or issue-related or other types of groups, or participate in wider discussions.

A short user guide for the site is here.

If you’d like to follow our updates on Twitter, our Twitter page is here.

Planning on an in person meeting at BICS to assist users on this new tool; in the meantime, feel free to direct message someone etc. Enjoy.
